Her doctor is having her do 8 weeks of physical therapy 3 times a week for slight hip dysplasia. He says the goal is to build and strengthen the muscle around the hip. Does anyone know what types of exercises specifically she will be doing?

Her physical therapist is the person to ask. Exercises differ depending on exactly which muscles need the work.

Ther’s the obvious spanking of the monkey but anything that raises your heart rate will increase overall circulation. Deep knee bends, the splits, squat thrusts, the running man and mashed potato dances, etc. ;)

Biceps Tendonitis, what type of physical therapy exercises do you recommend?

I’ve had bicep tendonitis for 3 months now. I’ve stretched and have reduced my arm exercises by 90%. My doctor has recommended physical therapy as the next step but what can that really do or help?

It about prescribing the right amount of exercise to facilitate the healing of the tissue into it’s mature form. Tendonitis starts out as inflammation, but without the proper remodeling program, it leaves the tendon in a physiologically immature tissue. This means that once you start to resume activity, it would just come back again unless you learn the appropriate exercises first. It will most likely be a few simple exericses and could probably focus on a home exercise program, but a progression of exercises is usually required for another 12 weeks to further facilitate healing.

I run 5k three to four times a week. I use the Nike+ sensor to track miles and join with runners over the world for challenges and group goals. I love it and it helps keep running fresh for me. We have a workout room in the basement and I join my husband doing free weights a couple times a week. I play tennis occasionally and I’m thinking about taking up golf lessons with a friend. I take a yoga class and do it on my own as well. How is this related to atheism? I don’t think theists are less fit or atheists less fit just due to beliefs. Do you?

What type of physical exercise will help to reduce the fat of waist quickly?

By using a combination of cardio and resistance exercises.

A good exercise for the waist is the Janda situp.

Assume the standard bent-knee crunch position while your partner holds your legs just below the calves. This hand position is the secret to Janda sit-ups. Your feet should remain in contact with the floor at all times during the movement, and the knees should be flexed no more than 90 degrees. Fold you hands across your chest, inhale, and slowly sit up while applying steady pressure against your partner’s hands with your legs.

Stop when the tension in the abs is about to drop off (around halfway up) and exhale at the top of the movement. Inhale again and lower yourself all the way to the floor,

With respect to cardio you should do HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). HIIT works by alternating between increasing and decreasing your heart rate thus raising your resting metabolic rate.

For example you start off with 2 minutes of walking followed by 30 seconds of all out sprinting, this becomes 1 cycle. Complete 4 cycles lasting 10 minutes. Every other week increase by 1 cycle to a total of 8 cycles lasting 20 minutes. Once reached, remain with it. Do this for 3 days of the week.

Eating is also important. Eat 4-6 smaller meals throughout the day to boost your metabolism and increase your concentration. Drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep, about 8 hours.

do u eat before playing ball or after?

I normally eat before workouts or any type of cardio activity, I know for some ppl they will eat after their workouts to build muscle eating protein (chicken,fish,milk etc), but I have no energy without something in my stomach. Plus I like to lay down after any type physical exercise and if I lay down after I eat something I heard that’s not good for u.

It is importiant to eat before AND after. You need the energy to perform and then the protein to recover

What kind of physical therapy would be used for someone who was shot?

I’m writing a story with a character who is recovering after being shot twice in the upper abdomen. There’s muscle damage and one bullet hit the spleen, but otherwise, nothing vital. What type of physical therapy exercises would she undergo in her recovery?

Upper extremity exercises and stretching
chest, back and abdominals
breathing exercise with emphasis on lung expansion
pulmonary rehabilitation
endurance training
